My Background
For over a decade, I have honed my skills as a development professional in the nonprofit sector. During my tenure in fundraising, I have helped secure over $15 million from foundations, individuals, and online donors to support equality, education, and environmental initiatives locally, nationally, and globally. I have worked within small development shops (as the only person) and in bigger teams as well. My responsibilities have ranged from core strategies, like being in charge of all grant proposals and institutional fundraising, to doing it all: individual donors, online donors, special events, planned giving, and corporate sponsorships. From my experience, I understand the nuances of working in a small and large teams, and recognize the challenges that come with both.
Prior to becoming a fundraiser, my background in finance -- consisting of six years in the accounting industry and a degree in economics -- helped me develop a foundational understanding of organizational budgets, finances, and the importance of both short-term and long-term financial planning. This knowledge has served me well as a fundraiser, particularly when developing grant proposals that need to align narratively and financially, and as a manager, with an eye on organization-wide strategy and outcomes.
It’s my mission
to help small to mid-size nonprofit organizations develop and implement mission-led plans that are financially grounded.
